Itena Totalcem Self-Etching & Self-Adhesive Permanent Resin Luting Cement
Itena Totalcem is a self-etching, self-adhesive, permanent resin luting cement designed for fast, reliable cementation of indirect restorations. Its true all-in-one formulation combines etching, priming, bonding, and cementation in a single step—saving time while delivering excellent clinical results.
With dual-curing capability (light- or self-curing), Totalcem ensures complete polymerization even in areas with limited light penetration. Its extremely thin film thickness allows restorations to seat completely, providing a perfect marginal seal with long-term durability.
“Finally, a self-etching/self-bonding cement where you can almost feel the low film thickness and that your restorations are seating completely! For my own practice, it is a time and money saver with equal or better results to any cement in its class.”
— Dr. Louis Malcmacher, President, American Academy of Facial Esthetics
Indications
- Permanent cementation of crowns and bridges
- Post cementation
- Inlays and onlays
- Self-adhesive bonding on enamel and dentine
- Metal, ceramic, porcelain, zirconia, and composite restorations
Advantages
- All-in-one system: etching + primer + bonding + cement
- Exceptional bonding strength (Enamel: 20 MPa, Dentine: 15 MPa)
- Dual curing (light- or self-curing) for guaranteed polymerization
- Optimized gel phase for easy excess removal (3–4 seconds light cure)
- Three intra-oral tips: fine, extra-fine, and ultra-fine Colibri
- No post-operative sensitivity
- Extremely thin film thickness (10 μm)
- Insoluble in oral fluids
- Perfect marginal seal
- Radiopaque (250% of aluminum)
- Fluoride release for added protection
- Safe for use on vital teeth
- Available in two shades: Universal A2 and Translucent
- Excellent long-term shade stability
- Can be stored at room temperature (no refrigeration required)
Hints & Tips
- Dentine should be dry but not over-dried before application
- For inlays and onlays, selective enamel etching with phosphoric acid is recommended (avoid dentine)
- For post cementation: remove gutta-percha residues, clean with ultrasonic probe, rinse, and gently dry
- Apply Totalcem using an extra-fine intra-oral tip for optimal placement
- Totalcem is not intended for bonding to enamel without mechanical retention (e.g., brackets, veneers)
- For ceramic inlays or zirconia crowns: etch with hydrofluoric acid (1–3 minutes), rinse, dry, then apply silane (DentoBond Porcelain Fix)
