Ammdent Root Plus MTA
Ammdent Root Plus MTA is a mineral trioxide aggregate–based repair material composed of very fine hydrophilic particles of multiple mineral oxides. When mixed with ROOT PLUS liquid, it forms a gel that hardens into an impermeable barrier, providing an excellent seal and long-term biological compatibility.
Root Plus MTA is indicated for a wide range of endodontic repair procedures including perforation repair, root-end fillings, apexification, and pulp capping. It sets even in the presence of moisture or blood and promotes regeneration of hard tissues.
Composition :
- Powder consisting of fine hydrophilic mineral oxides
- Forms a gel with ROOT PLUS liquid that hardens into an impermeable barrier
Indications :
- Repair of root perforations during root canal therapy
- Root-end filling (retrograde)
- Root-end filling (orthograde)
- Pulp capping
Advantages :
- Antimicrobial activity
- Non-toxic and non-mutagenic
- Vasoconstrictive effect supporting hemostasis during pulp capping
- Excellent long-lasting sealability
- Low solubility
- Sets in the presence of moisture or blood
- No dimensional changes during setting
- Minimal microleakage with no setting shrinkage
- High clinical success rate
- Alkaline pH with antibacterial effect
- Induces formation of dentin, cementum, bone, and periodontal ligament
- Excellent biocompatibility and mechanical properties
- Creates an artificial barrier for obturation
- Higher radiopacity than calcium hydroxide
Features :
- Good compressive strength
- Calcium ion release enhancing mineralized tissue formation
- Hydrophilic – suitable for humid clinical conditions
- High alkalinity for antibacterial properties
- Low solubility preventing leakage
- Calcium oxide content promotes biocompatibility
- Aggregated oxides provide excellent compressive strength
- High radiopacity for clear radiographic visualization
Key Specifications :
- Storage temperature: 10–25 °C (50–77 °F)
- Do not store below 10 °C
- Do not use after expiry date
Packaging :
- 1 Ă— 1 g powder
- 1 Ă— 3 ml liquid
Direction to Use :
Dispensing and Mixing :
- Recommended powder/liquid ratio: 26 : 1
- Mix 1 level scoop of powder with 2 drops of liquid
- For thinner or firmer consistency (orthograde), use a 2 : 1 ratio by weight
- Mix 3 level scoops of powder with 8 drops of liquid
- Mix on a water-impervious mixing pad or glass slab
- Total mixing time: approximately 30 seconds
- Final mix should be thixotropic and homogeneous
Repair of Root Perforations :
- Isolate with rubber dam and clean canal using NaOCl
- Dry canal and isolate the perforation
- Fill apical canal space up to the perforation
- Mix and apply ROOT PLUS MTA to the perforation site
- Condense and verify placement radiographically
- Place a damp cotton pellet and seal temporarily
- Permanent restoration may be completed after 5 minutes
Root-End Filling (Retrograde) :
- Resect root end and prepare a 3–5 mm cavity
- Dry and achieve hemostasis
- Apply and condense ROOT PLUS MTA
- Remove excess material and confirm placement with X-ray
Pulp Capping :
- Isolate and disinfect exposed pulp
- Apply a small amount of ROOT PLUS MTA
- Cover with a flowable liner and light cure
- Proceed with bonding and composite restoration
Root-End Filling (Orthograde) :
- Disinfect canal and place calcium hydroxide for one week
- Apply ROOT PLUS MTA to create a 3–5 mm apical barrier
- Verify placement radiographically
- Seal temporarily or permanently after 5 minutes
