Ivoclar OptraFine is a high-performance diamond polishing system designed for ceramic restorations, combining high efficiency with durable, esthetic high-gloss results. It is suitable for all types of ceramic materials, including all-ceramic restorations such as IPS Empress CAD and IPS e.max CAD, as well as metal-ceramics like IPS InLine.

OptraFine delivers very low surface roughness and an excellent high-gloss finish. The dimensionally stable silicone polishers are autoclavable and reusable, making the system both effective and economical for daily clinical use.

System Overview

• Step 1: Finishing with OptraFine F (light blue)
• Step 2: Polishing with OptraFine P (dark blue)
• Step 3: High-gloss polishing with OptraFine HP nylon brushes and diamond polishing paste

The ceramic polishers can be used intraorally with water cooling and extraorally (chairside) without water cooling.

Composition

• Finishers and polishers: Synthetic rubber, diamond granulates, titanium dioxide
• Nylon brushes: Nylon fibres
• Handles: Stainless steel
• Polishing paste: Diamond dust (2–4 µm) in an emulsion of glycerine, sodium lauryl sulphate and propylene glycol

Key Specifications

Finisher (F) and Polisher (P)

• Maximum speed: 15,000 rpm
• Use only with copious water spray (> 50 ml/min)
• Apply medium pressure (approx. 2 N)
• Place polishers on the surface only while rotating
• Use slight rotary motions to avoid grooves
• Do not use damaged polishers
• Wear protective goggles and face mask
• Ensure efficient dust evacuation during use

Nylon Brushes and High-Gloss Polishing Paste (HP)

• Recommended speed: 5,000 – 7,000 rpm
• Maximum speed: 10,000 rpm
• Use without water spray
• Nylon brushes are single-use and may only be sterilized once before first use

• Step 1: Pre-polishing using OptraFine F (light blue)
• Step 2: Polishing using OptraFine P (dark blue)
• Step 3: High-gloss polishing using OptraFine HP nylon brushes and polishing paste
